ROC Orthopedics

I had a referral appointment at ROC for sudden, severe joint pain. The office scheduled me quickly, but then moved my appointment twice, eventually fitting me in between other appointments. Dr. Coen was therefore rushed during the evaluation, but I also did not feel he took my concerns seriously. As my symptoms had recently begun to improve, he implied my primary care provider was mistaken about joint involvement and I had strained a muscle (so severely that I had been incapacitated) without remembering it or having any swelling or bruising. When I asked his opinion about my abnormal lab results, he had no interest in helping me find an explanation for my symptoms. As I began to describe increasing pain in other joints, he cut me off to begin the examination. It seemed as though my unknown (and personally frightening) condition was unimportant if it did not relate to him performing surgery in the near future. I was eventually diagnosed with a rheumatic condition he could not have treated, but the lack of empathy I experienced at ROC was very discouraging.

I visited the clinic for the first time with appt. with Dr Shane Hanzlik . The entire team is very professional, yet friendly. He is incredibly thorough while being kind & understanding. Great combination in a physician. While I am fortunate my hip issue is treatable, I am grateful for his expertise and future care. An exceptional experience. Highly recommend him and the office!!

It’s really irritating when you have appointment you confirm it fill out the paperwork for your appointment only to have them call and want to move up the appointment time because of a opening ( which I couldn’t because of my work) only to get a call an hour later and canceling my appointment! I wasn’t able to take the phone call because at the time I was with a customer at my work and it showed as spam phone call. I listened to the voice message and tried to call back no answer, called back again later only to be told by recording that I was number 13 in the queue with a wait time of 30 minutes it took 5 phone calls to finally get to a person!! Only to get put on hold and then a recording telling me that that extension wasn’t valid goodbye. Very frustrating with the hole situation!!!!

ROC has been awesome to my family and I. Between myself and the rest of our family we have had three knee replacements, one hip replacement and several arthroscopic procedures done by ROC. I also have several friends that have had procedures done by ROC. Our family and friends couldn’t be more satisfied. I would and do recommend ROC to anyone interested.

I've never gotten angry with a physician before ROC. John Boyle is not a good listener. He missed my diagnosis. He would hardly listen to my physical therapist too, one HE recommended. And Dr. Huberty, his MD, backed him up without ever seeing me. Boyle was too anxious to suggest surgery before investigating further. I saw another shoulder surgeon in Portland who properly diagnosed me and modified my PT. Thanks to her, I am now 99% better (1% loss of motion due to the original injury - the injury Boyle refused to consider).
